‘Englemad’ Appeal

December 5, 2007

planinsplogo.gifPlease find, below, a copy of the message being delivered to residents in Tite Hill and Middle Hill regarding the appeal that has been lodged by Premier Properties with regards to the Council’s rejection of their planning applications for the Englemede site.

Hilariously, many local residents have started referring to the proposed development as “Englemad”.

As the old saying goes, many a true word is said in jest…

Premier Properties has appealed against Runnymede Borough Council’s (RBC) refusal of both of their planning applications, listed above, to develop Englemede.

The final decision is now in the hands of the Planning Inspectorate.

The Appeal will be decided by an Inspector who will, in both cases, read RBC’s original reasons for rejection and PP’s “Grounds of Appeal” followed by a site visit. There will be no public hearing.

Additionally, the Inspector will read and take into account all letters that we now write in support of RBC’s reasons for rejection which may also include our own individual views.

Since receiving notice of the appeal, your Englemad Core Group has worked with our local councillors, Dan Hamilton, Marissa Heath and Pat Roberts. They have given us invaluable support, including helping us determine our best strategy.

It is essential that we all encourage as many people as possible to write. We can all do so as individuals, as many per household as possible. This includes any who did not write at the time of the original applications. This will ensure that the Inspector is bombarded with even more letters than we managed before.

By next Monday 10th December we will send you a draft of key points with every possible objection set out. Please then write your own letters using a “pick & mix” formula based upon your choice of the key issues plus any personal points. This is to avoid us sending identical letters. We must each send three signed copies.

If you have not written before, please do so this time. It is IMPERATIVE that we should defeat this appeal and this is our last chance to prevent the development in its current form.

Should you need any help we will be very happy to assist you. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to phone any one of us whose numbers are shown below.

Meanwhile, if you can canvass all your friends and ask them to join in, please ask them to e-mail or phone any one of us listed below.

It is of paramount importance that your new letters are sent directly to the Inspectorate offices. Because of the Christmas post, we urge you to do this by 13th December.

For more information on the appeal, please contact any of the following: Derek Blundell (433170), Roger Harben (07973 224125), Kevin Rundell (437012), John Chittock (435001),Keith Bendall (435822) or Mark Jones (431717).

Englefield Green Playground

December 4, 2007

At a meeting of the Englefield Green Committee on 21st November, Peter Winfield from the Council’s Leisure Department provided an aerial map (below) outlining the siting of the new playground on The Green.

Whilst government bureaucracy - involving a possible public inquiry into the choice of site - means that the Council is not yet able to provide a solid timetable for when the new playground may be up and running, officers confirmed that provisions have been made for CCTV coverage of the site.

When I have further information, including images of the proposed equipment, I will post them on this website.

Cllr Roberts, Cllr Heath and myself will be meeting with local residents - led by Derek Blundell and Roger Harben - tomorrow evening in order to coordinate our response to the appeal.

I am currently preparing a document, which I will post on this website, to assist residents in making their representations effectively.

Please click here to download a document I have prepared with some suggestions as to points residents may wish to make and avoiding making whilst drafting their letters to the Planning Inspector.
